Nalikule College of Education has announced plans to introduce a revised STEM curriculum in 2027 as part of its continued efforts to modernise teacher education and strengthen science and technology teaching in Malawi.

The new curriculum will place greater emphasis on practical laboratory skills, technology-enhanced learning, and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into STEM education. The approach is designed to give student teachers practical knowledge and skills that they can apply in modern classrooms and learning environments.

The curriculum will provide students with increased opportunities to engage with practical experiments, problem-solving activities, digital tools, and emerging technologies. By combining theoretical knowledge with hands-on learning, the College aims to prepare future teachers to deliver STEM education that is relevant to the changing needs of learners and communities.

Principal Dr. Denis Khasu highlighted the importance of keeping teacher education aligned with developments in science and technology. He noted that the world is changing rapidly and that teachers need to be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and adaptability required to respond to modern educational challenges.

The introduction of the revised curriculum represents another step in Nalikule College’s commitment to strengthening the quality of teacher preparation. Through greater emphasis on practical learning, innovation, and emerging technologies, the College aims to equip its graduates to contribute effectively to the development of STEM education in Malawi.
